LEARN TO SEW ON A SEWING MACHINE - A WORKSHOP FOR BEGINNERS with Silvana from Beaches Sewing.

This is a perfect class for anyone wanting to learn to sew on a sewing machine and have the confidence to get started.

Sewing can be an amazing creative outlet where ideas turn into beautiful pieces leaving you with a feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment. It can be very relaxing but also take you on a journey in so many different directions from garment making, costume creating, home decorations, accessory making, wall art and so much more.

Throughout this 2.5 hour class you will learn the basics of sewing on a sewing machine.

Weather you used a sewing machine before or it’s your first time, by the end of this class you will know how to

  • Set up the sewing machine and use it with confidence
  • Troubleshoot and resolve most common issues
  • Select best options in handling different fabrics
  • Make a simple drawstring bag at the end

We will be using Janome DC250 Sewing Machines on the day which we provide.

If you are looking into purchasing a machine - Silvana who runs Beaches Sewing will be able to advise you and provide you with the best machine for your ongoing use. 

This is an adult open age class but is suitable for age 10 plus and no previous experience is necessary however children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a participating adult.

All materials and light refreshments will be provided.

Please Note: This class will be held in Studio 2 which is upstairs and unfortunately does not have wheelchair access.

Our workshop tickets are non refundable, but if you are aware you will be unable to attend, you may pass your ticket to someone else you wish to come in your place.

By booking a ticket to a sewing activity, you agree to release and hold harmless all employees and/or volunteers of Little Lane Workshops of all claims or liability related to any accident that may arise as a result of your participation in this class.

Silvana is very passionate about creativity and craft. Blessed and cursed with an endless flow of ideas that need to find a way to reality, she has been in the sewing industry most of her life.

Her sewing shop in Dee Why has been serving Northern Beaches crafters for over 100 years with a strong care for customers as well as care for environment emphasizing the repair and reuse over the mass consumption and waste

Most importantly loving and growing human connections, networking with other businesses in the field, supporting and nurturing young talent and building a strong community of crafters on the Northern Beaches.
