BEADED EMBROIDERY WORKSHOP

Join Mercedes, from Cluny The Label, and discover the art of hand-embroidery using beads, bugle beads, seed beads, sequins, and rhinestones to bring your projects to life.

This versatile technique can be applied to clothing, accessories, home décor, and more. Hand embroidery is a slow-paced, artisanal craft—a perfect activity to relax, disconnect, and enjoy either on your own or with a friend.

We will begin by introducing the materials and exploring the various ways embroidery can be used. While we will all work on the same motif, you’ll have the freedom to choose your own materials / colourways and add unique details to make your design truly one-of-a-kind.

In this workshop, you’ll learn:

• How to prepare the fabric and hoop.
• Techniques for hand-embroidering each type of bead.
• How to secure your embroidery and add finishing touches.

By the end of the session, you’ll have your own beautifully crafted embroidery motif, equipped with the basic stitching techniques needed to apply this skill to future projects. You'll also take home a guide with instructions, tips, and supplier recommendations, along with a small embroidery kit to continue your journey.

Please note: depending on the speed of each participant, you may or may not finish your project during the class, but rest assured you will have everything you need to continue and complete your project at home.

No previous experience is necessary.

All materials are provided for you including nibbles & refreshments.

This is an adult open age class but is suitable for age 14 plus and no previous experience is necessary.

Please note children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a participating adult.

PLEASE NOTE: This class will be held in our upstairs studio and does not have wheelchair access.

Your space in a class is reserved only once full payment has been received.

Our workshop tickets are non refundable, but if you are aware you will be unable to attend, you may pass your ticket to someone else you wish to come in your place.

About your teacher

Mercedes is passionate about hand embroidery, drawing much of her inspiration from admiring antique jewelry—a passion she has shared with her mum since early childhood.

Exploring antique shops with her mum, searching for 'hidden treasures,' felt like a game to Mercedes.This love for craftsmanship and artisanal work inspired her to study fashion and eventually create a slow fashion brand, Cluny The Label, where hand-embroidered garments are the signature pieces.As an advocate of slow fashion and a former fashion designer, Mercedes creates most of her garments in her Dee Why studio, handling everything from pattern-making and sewing to embellishment. However, it is the embroidery that gives each piece its final touch and brings her the greatest joy. 

Each embroidery holds a story, a memory, and the intention behind placing it on a garment makes it special—like a piece of jewelry that you treasure and keep for years.
