Join us in a serene and creative environment where you can escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and focus on the calming and meditative process of handcrafting a unique ceramic masterpiece.

Led by Jayne and Danya from The Sunshine Collective Australia, these experienced instructors will guide you through each step of the mug-making journey and guided free play covering shaping and moulding to joining and decorating your clay works.

This workshop is the perfect opportunity to slow down and savour the moment. Take a break from the fast-paced world and indulge in a therapeutic and fulfilling experience that will leave you with a personalised mug and more to cherish for years to come.

All pieces will be glazed in our house white glaze, fired twice and returned to the studio for you to collect. Clay colour and glazing may vary depending upon availability.

We take pride in producing products fired to stoneware, renowned for its strength, resistance to chipping, and ability to retain heat, making it an ideal choice for functional items like mugs. Safe for use in the microwave, oven, and dishwasher, stoneware mugs offer versatility and durability.

Please allow up to 6 weeks for glazing and firing to be completed and your finished products to be returned to the studio. We will contact you when they are ready to collect.

Cost is all inclusive of materials and glazing for up to 3 pieces of pottery. Additional pieces can be fired and glazed (payment to be made direct on the day to the creative).

No previous experience necessary.

This is an adult open age class but is suitable for age 8 plus and no previous experience is necessary however children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a participating adult.

All materials and light refreshments will be provided.

ABOUT YOUR TEACHER:

Jayne Papalia, founder of The Sunshine Collective Australia, on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, draws inspiration from the raw coastal landscape to create a unique collection of ceramics. Her pieces embody a simplicity and organic feel, each one-of-a-kind creation reflecting her passion for craftsmanship. What began as a personal project during the challenges of the Covid pandemic has evolved into a thriving business dedicated to the art of ceramics, as well as teaching these skills to others.

With a background in education, holding a Graduate Diploma of Education and over 11 years of experience as a Teacher, Educator, and Program Manager, Jayne brings a student-centered approach to her workshops. She carefully tailors each session to meet the individual needs of participants, drawing on a variety of teaching and learning principles to create a supportive and enriching environment.

The hands-on experience of working with clay offers a primal mode of expression that engages the physical, sensual, and mental aspects of creativity. This process, characterized by its unhurried nature, provides therapeutic benefits as it encourages participants to embrace imperfection, let go of control, and find beauty in the unexpected. Through her art and teaching, Jayne Papalia invites others to explore the transformative power of the creative process and discover the joy of self-expression through ceramics.
